In Search Of Urbano Lugo

I have been working on getting my complete 1987 Topps baseball set for some time now. The base set is complete, so I have been chasing after the errors and variations. One specific card seems to keep escaping me…

1987 Topps #92 Urbano Lugo Error. The error is the missing trademark next to the Angels logo in the upper left corner of the card.

This card is like a professional diamond thief– always two steps ahead of the authorities. The few I have seen on eBay were sold (or expired) a day before I searched. Then to disappear from eBay for weeks at a time. Only to show up again and disappear.

Until I started to build the 1987 Topps set, Urbano Lugo was unknown to me. After reading wikipedia, it appears he spent 10 years in the league bouncing up and down into the minors quite a bit. Thanks to the error Topps made, I will remember this guy… for his error card.

If you have a copy of the error and are willing to part with it, let me know in the comments to see if we can work something out.

Yes. I eventually found it on eBay– for under $5 if I remember correctly. This was also before the pandemic boom, so I am not sure what it would go for now.
