Why You Should Start A Sports Card Blog

The internet has completely changed the sports card industry; allowing collectors to expand their passion for collecting sports cards beyond the local card shop.

Although the internet has almost removed the brick and mortar card shop, it has expanded collecting communities and opened up new opportunities for collectors. Sports card collectors are actively sharing their personal collection and thoughts on the industry through blogging and you should too.

Why start a sports card blog

A blog is nothing but your opinion and ideas fed through a medium that can allow anyone to hear your voice. Blog topics can be whatever you want to share; from product review to someone sharing their latest box break.

Reading sports card blogs is part of my daily routine. I really enjoy reading about what others opinions on collecting. This allows me to stay connected to sports cards, hear opinions about sports and collecting, and see how other collectors adding to their collection.

The benefits of blogging

A sports card blog could help build your collection. A frequent online presence will increase your audience. Trading with other collectors on blogs is a common occurrence. This can be a great way to meet other collectors for trading.

What is the best reason to blog about sports cards? Bragging. You have a collection– show it off! Hands down, my favorite blog posts to read are about new additions to a collection. Either a box break hit for the personal collection, mail day from a group break, or the results of a trade.  It is just fun to see other people brag about their cards.

Sports card businesses should blog too

A sports card business should definitely be blogging… consistently. Each published blog post creates another foot print on the internet for someone to discover. Maintaining your engagement with collectors could create new customers.

Panini does a great job creating engagement with their customers. The Knight’s Lance is their product blog, which Panini consistently updates throughout the week showcasing new products.

Upper Deck also has an active blog which covers multiple topics besides their products. They focus a lot on products, collectors, and hobby shops through out the United States and Canada.

Start your sports card blog today

The internet has made it incredibly easy to get started with blogging. A simple blog can be created for free at wordpress.com or by using Google’s Blogger platform. You have worked hard to build your collection, so share it with the world by blogging.
