Some Vintage Goodness

A small, but quick post on my latest pick-ups from eBay. These latest purchases reflect how much I am starting appreciate cards from pre-1980 more and more.

The first two cards I picked up are “half vintage”. Why just half? Well, one of the cards is actually a buyback. To me buybacks add a little fun to older nostalgic cards. Just don’t get too crazy with them, Topps.

Starting with the 1969 Topps #375 Harmon Killebrew. This card is beat up and awesome. Besides the creases, it appears someone was eating an ice cream cone while looking at the card.

Moving on to the 2015 Topps Original Buyback 1969 #30 Bob Allison. I love buybacks. As long as they don’t get too rare, I will gobble them up.

The next two cards are part of my top five cards…

Until recently, I had little knowledge of Topps Venezuelan. After some research, I just had to have a Bob Allison Venezuelan release. Lucky for me this 1966 Venezuela Topps #345 Bob Allison PSA 7 was on eBay for way less than it should have… I am guessing the centering had something to do with it?

I probably have 30+ copies of 1959 Topps #116 Bob Allison in a varying conditions. I saw this PSA 8 version on eBay one Sunday morning at a low price and grabbed it immediately! Easily one of top cards.

Jon,

That it is. The Venezuelan releases were “incomplete” of a full set, so I was glad he made it on the list. This one is probably the best condition I have seen for a Venezuelan.

And yes, the old batting gloves were pretty awesome.
